This time, they’re sharing with us their much loved secret recipe – the Wattleseed and Orange biscuits!
INGREDIENTS:
185g unsalted butter
230g caster sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1 egg
350g plain flour (extra for rolling)
2 tbsp ground roast wattleseed
zest of 1 orange
METHOD:
- Cream the butter, sugar & vanilla in a bowl using an electric mixer until pale and fluffy.
- Add the egg, wattleseed and zest and mix on low until combined. Add the flour and stir with a wooden spoon to form a soft dough. Roll out onto bench and if the mix is soft and sticky, add more flour til it’s not, slowly working it into the dough.
- Form the dough into a flat disc and cover in cling wrap. Place in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
- Pre-heat your oven to 180°C and line baking trays with baking paper.
- Roll out dough on a lightly floured bench until approximately 5mm thick. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters of your choosing. Lift them gently from bench with a flat knife and place on baking trays. Bake for 8-10mins or until golden around the edges. Remove from oven and allow to cool and harden slightly.
- Place in an airtight container for storage. These will last upto 1 week if not eaten prior!
Optional – Decorate with a little melted chocolate for something more indulgent.
