Temporary arrangements for grants

Grant recipients

The Government has introduced temporary arrangements for grants administered under the Indigenous Advancements Strategy to ensure funded organisations are supported and remain viable during the management of COVID-19. We are adopting a flexible approach to ensure grant recipients and relevant organisations under the IAS are in the best position to continue to deliver services during and following the pandemic. This will limit the impact on Indigenous Australians.

Grants agreements and/or schedules will be reviewed and, where necessary, variations will be made on a case-by-case basis to provide a portion of existing funding sufficient to keep recipients financially sustainable.

Grant recipients that provide an enduring service and whose contracts are due for a review during this period will receive partial payments to ensure ongoing viability.

On a case-by-case basis, the Agency will consider one-off grant payments to organisations that are not currently contracted through the IAS but have approached the Agency for funding to remain viable. This is provided the expenditure aligns with the IAS policy and the Government’s intent to cushion the impact of COVID-19.
