Yarpa Activate The University of Wollongong’s business incubator iAccelerate and the NSW Aboriginal Land Council’s Yarpa Indigenous Business and Employment Hub (Yarpa Hub) have come together in a partnership to launch Yarpa Activate, a six-week intensive program for Aboriginal entrepreneurs and businesses. Who is it for Yarpa Activate is for anyone for anyone who has a great business idea, would like to start their own business, or are looking at improving their current business planning practices. The Yarpa Activate program is designed to be delivered flexibly as an interactive online course, through a blend of facilitator led workshops, self-paced online learning, individual mentoring, active learning and peer support, with the added option for face-to-face contact. Yarpa Activate and participating entrepreneurs will become part of the iAccelerate Innovation Network that offers links to startup hubs and resources across the globe. Curriculum features A first-of-its-kind initiative, Yarpa activate includes an innovative train-the-trainer program with Yarpa facilitators trained to deliver iAccelerate’s six-week intensive Activate entrepreneurship program. The program consists of six modules over 35 hours. Depending on the desired pace, it can be run as a one week intensive all the way up to 12 weeks. Each module contains: Interactive online learning to cover the theory of starting a business at the participant’s own pace (1-3 hours per module). Live workshops to apply the learning to participant’s business alongside a facilitator (1-3 hours per module). Group Mentoring to support the businesses and startups as they continue to incorporate their learnings into the business (1-2 hours per module).
