Saltwater Freshwater Festival

The first event of the new year had the Yarpa team up on the mid north coast on picturesque Worimi country for the Saltwater Freshwater Festival.

Hosted at Forster Tuncurry, the day opened with a Welcome to Country from local Elders Aunty Donna Hall and Aunty Lynette Davis. A traditional Smoking Ceremony from Uncle Steve Brereton was undertaken before a performance from the deadly Guthang Dancers.

The event had a number of successful cultural workshops ran by Worimi Mob which included Aunties in the weaving tent and Cousin John from Worimi Cultural Heritage and Education team showing everyone how to shake a leg.

The event was a great chance for the Yarpa Hub team to celebrate culture with the Mid North Coast community and share our range of services and supports with local and visiting mob. We had a range of enquires for our business and employment offerings and signed up many new existing and future businesses to the Yarpa Hub family.

The Yarpa team were grateful to be a part of such an amazing cultural event that was hosted by community, for community. We can’t wait to come back next year.
